Manhattan Beach Unified School District is a destination District that for decades has had a true focus on maximizing the academic success of all of our students and our principles are teachers all of our support staff really believe and Foster this culture of care we just get to see so many different students grow whatever their their passion is can you go on the internet and find out a ton of stuff about plant cells the staff that work at mbusd school feel very empowered and have the capacity to give your students the experience of a lifetime I am always their biggest fan and I tried to present my lessons in a in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all of my learner's so that could be in your kind of like traditional lesson but then you always can put spin on it and I get to deliver it in a way that is exciting for them and also to Showcase it in a few different ways because everyone learns differently so I always try to make sure or two to do that in my teaching fact the ability to work with our students directly and experiencing such a dynamic way of educating students especially from a whole child approach you know it's not just about academics and the USB really prioritises building our students up from a social emotional level and that's really what it takes to build really good citizens us music starts in 3rd grade our students are able to explore with a variety of instruments really hone in on what is interesting to them and what their passion might be as they grow so does the program all the way up to our award-winning program in our high schools are Community Schools here in Manhattan Beach are truly because it is the community that stands behind them we all believed in strong public education and when we all come together whether we're a business partner whether were a neighbor parents a teacher a leader here in the district we truly are supporting our students and ensuring that they have the best public school education possible so I have worked at three different high schools and I have been an educator for over 20 years and this experience is by far the best that I've ever had in my career I have a science teacher's dream job is incredible again it's from all the support systems from your colleagues your teachers are added the ppsa and bf we are all there to support our students and provide them with it really rich learning environment and I am so lucky my class is full of color and amazing learning material because all of these supports because the ppsi so I just feel so lucky that I'm able to use all of those incredible support to enrich my teaching people are surrounded by people who care who want the district to be great if you want kids experiences to be amazing every student is welcome in our classrooms and on our campuses and we strive everyday to create a safe caring and welcoming environment for each and every student and learning is also being nurtured as a forward so I have children with in the NBO SD school district and I see what they do at the elementary level I communicate with the teachers at the middle school level and we know that we are scaffolding the lessons throughout the entire case through 12 system so that the students are ready when they walk into our Advanced science classes they know the skills that they that we can build we helped to support stem in our district all the way from TK all the way through 12th grade we have our Makerspace in our elementary schools we have science lab as well in her Elementary School and we grow that all the way up through our Technology and Engineering department at the high school Foundation the nbx booster program and our PTA there are all sorts of ways for you to get involved whether you have a lot of time or a little time or you're able to contribute through donations or a combination of both it's the community support that really helps differentiate programming for every student here in Manhattan Beach Unified through with everything from new flooring and paint Sig better Cabinetry to sliding doors that open to Outdoor Learning spaces that work in a really functional and supportive way nvusd offers the best opportunities in education I think that here we are able bring up the best of all worlds together the resources that many private schools can offer combined with the breadth of programs and opportunities that a public school and provide to see and witness and hear about the 6s the programs that MBS funds is truly remarkable when I hear we are mvusd I think that we are a team and we all have a single thread a commonality that we are here to support our students and help get them ready for the next step in their educational path what I love about this community is that it's such a tight-knit small community so it really is more like a relationship like with families and it's really it's so lovely because you're not just here teaching the kids and then that's it at the end of the day your parents and you're there with them in this incredible School Journey for the full year and it's just we're still lucky to be in such like a small community where we truly Karen
