A 3-PEAT Win For Mira Costa High School Drama and Theatre Tech Department At Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival
For the third year in a row the Mira Costa Drama and Theatre Tech Department win the Grand Prize Sweepstakes Award for overall points at the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival this past weekend, beating out over 50 other schools in Southern California. They also took top honors for a third time in the Musical Theatre category with a 10 minute cut from their upcoming spring musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which opens Friday, April 24th on the Costa stage. Costa’s Theatre Tech teams won an unprecedented 8 medals plus 2nd Place and 3rd Place overall in Tech Olympics, Alex Jarus won 2nd Place in Graphic Design for his poster design of Costa’s play The Matchmaker, and Cameron Boyer and Calyssa Frankel won 1st place for their contemporary ensemble scene from Almost Maine directed by Preston Duran.
Others who made the final round but did not place include: Costa’s Team Diversity improve group, Rachel Kay and Emily Schugel for individual monologues; and Nicki Durazo, Layne Eichenlaub, Alexa Silvershein and Sam Sturges for an ensemble scene directed by Madeline Huggins.
