Additional Information: Oklahoma! was first produced on Broadway in 1943 and is the ground-breaking musical that ushered in the golden age of musical theatre and set the standard for American musicals. Under the direction of Cary Jordahl and Carol Mathews, Mira Costa’s spectacular production will bring to life the story of America’s expanding frontier and romance on the prairie. Set in 1906, just before Oklahoma achieved statehood, this is a show about rivalries – farmers and ranchers are fighting over fences and land rights. But in the middle of the controversy, there also are romantic rivalries, and they make this show sing. Laurie, a strong-willed farm girl, and Curly, an exuberant cowboy, deny their obvious attraction, creating an opportunity for farmhand Jud to come between them. Laurey’s friend, Ado Annie, finds herself torn between her local beau, Will, and the smooth-talking traveling salesman, Ali Hakim. And pulling it all together are the numerous and wonderful songs and dance numbers that have made Oklahoma! an American musical classic, including Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, People Will Say We’re in Love, The Surrey with the Fringe On Top, and, of course, Oklahoma!
So come watch as life on the plains takes center stage, colored by romance and jealousy, adventure and adversity, and lots of song, dance, and musical fun. Get your tickets and join us for Oklahoma!
