Ms. Salceda, known fondly as Letty by her colleagues, is being recognized for being at the top of her game in her role in the front office. In addition to supporting office personnel, she primarily supports the Special Ed program at the site and does so with finesse, expertise, and calm demeanor. She coordinates schedules of over 40 aides and behavior support specialists, manages IEPs and schedules meetings for over 200 students. According to Brian Lucas, MBUSD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, “(Letty’s) involvement in knowing her students and families is what takes her beyond. She works to be sure the school’s students with disabilities are included in activities and she advocates for their participation in school events. She is a force in her school community in that she is a well-known, trusted champion for the students.”
